In the Italian legal system, the appraisal is the technical analysis of a particular situation drawn up by an expert in a specific non-legal discipline (for example an engineer, an architect, a doctor) and can be requested by a judge or a third party to settle a technical-economic question, such as the estimate of an asset or damage, or to certify the truth about a technical issue, such as the conformity of an asset to specific standards or requirements.

- appraisals of parties in legal cases (CTP);
